Skill Up with MET Continuing Education

MET is an outcome driven intervention model, starting with assessing the functional and movement needs of the client. We believe in a no nonsense rehab approach without gimmicks for patients who expect optimal outcomes and for providers who have the courage to place the patient in the center without compromise. The course curriculum consists of two 3-day courses (MET 1 and 2) and provides a step-by-step approach for implementing the MET framework in daily clinical practice, regardless of the practice setting. To help therapists build clinical reasoning skills in exercise prescription, the course content is taught with an emphasis on the “why” and “how” rather than on specific exercises. The two courses can be taken in any order.

Skill Up with MET Continuing Education

Our curriculum begins with an introduction to the Fundamentals of MET, in which students learn the why and how MET delivers clinically meaningful improvements in all four outcome domains:

- Symptom Moderation

- Impairment Correction

- Subjective Functional Performance

- Objective Functional Performance

Our Level 2 courses build on those fundamentals and provide step-by-step instruction for therapeutic exercise dosing and delivery in the areas of:

- Spine

- Lower Quadrant

- Hand-Held Dynamometry

- Pelvis

- Upper Quadrant

- Hand and Wrist

Hand-Held Dynamometry

Precision dosing of medical exercise therapy requires an accurate and consistent performance measurement throughout the course of treatment.  This is why we developed standard guidelines for the application of Hand-Held Dynamometry in daily clinical practice.

MET Resources for Providers

Clinical Fatigue Test

The assessment of clinical manifestation of muscle fatigue is an effective procedure in establishing therapeutic exercise dose.

Few studies have evaluated physical therapist reliability in establishing muscle fatigue through detection of changes in quality of movement patterns in a live setting.

Dosing Guidelines

Our objective-based standardized guidelines for proper exercise dosing based on clinical fatigue.

Prescription Format

Used to help determine the precise dose of a therapeutic exercise. The result of an isometric dynamometry test determines the initial test dose for a clinical fatigue test.

The result of the clinical fatigue test will then determine the therapeutic exercise dose. Each dynamometric test is performed in the posture and position of the selected exercise.

Meet Our Team

Our passion for fostering the highest level of patient-centered care in collaboration with highly skilled clinicians through a culture of engagement and ownership begins with a dedication to helping providers re-discover the joy of patient care.
